Ahmed Bin Sulayem

AAhmed Bin Sulayem is the Executive Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of DMCC and has driven its growth from a start-up of 28 member companies in 2003 to the world’s leading free zone in 2023 with 24,000+ member companies from 180 countries, employing over 80,000 people.

Tasked with enhancing commodity trade flows through Dubai, DMCC has introduced to the market a number of value-added products and services under Mr Bin Sulayem’s leadership. In 2023, DMCC has been named the ‘Global Free Zone of the Year’ by The Financial Times fDi Magazine, for a record ninth consecutive year.

Mr Bin Sulayem oversaw the exponential growth of the DMCC Free Zone master development in Jumeirah Lakes Towers (JLT), a 200-hectare business and residential community in Dubai of over 100,000 people living and working across 87 towers. Mr Bin Sulayem also oversees the development of DMCC’s latest real estate project; the much-anticipated Uptown Dubai district.

Mr Bin Sulayem currently serves as the Chairman of the Dubai Diamond Exchange (DDE) and the Dubai Gold & Commodities Exchange (DGCX).

The Kimberley Process officially appointed the United Arab Emirates (UAE) as the first and only Arab country to Chair the Kimberley Process in November 2015. Shortly after, the UAE Ministry of Economy officially appointed Mr Bin Sulayem as the UAE’s Chair of the Kimberley Process for 2016.

H.E. MUHANNAD ALNAQBI

H.E. Muhannad Alnaqbi is the Consul General of the UAE to Shanghai overseeing 4 provinces in East China in addition to Shanghai. H.E. Alnaqbi is committed to further strengthening the Sino-UAE trade, relationship and friendship.

Prior to Shanghai H.E. Alnaqbi was in Italy for five years where he was First Secretary at the UAE Embassy in Rome.

H.E. Alnaqbi, a UAE native commenced his career at the U.A.E Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 2010 where he held various roles in preparation for leading the U.A.E missions overseas.

Nancy Sun

Nancy Sun is a Senior Partner of Beijing Dacheng Law Offices, LLP (Shanghai) and also co-head of Dacheng Energy Practice and Sector.

Nancy has been assisting the leading companies in energy, petrochemicals, infrastructure, and manufacturing sectors on their cross-border investment and finance. In addition to the master’s degree in law, she has also obtained an MBA from NUS and UCLA. Her dual knowledge background provides her with a sound business mindset in dealing with complex legal practice issues.

Nancy has been continuously recognized by Chambers and Partners, Legal 500, and other ranking and directories since 2015, and has also been recognized as one of the women leading individuals of 2022 and 2023 by IFLR1000.

Lawyer Guo Yulan has been engaged in foreign-related legal affairs for 18 years. She is a lawyer with an international perspective, possessing solid legal expertise and rich practice experience in cross-border mergers and acquisitions, corporate, and commercial fields. At the same time, Lawyer Guo and her team also provide high-quality legal services in emerging areas such as "personal information protection," "data security," and "green low-carbon development" for clients.

The corporate clients served by Lawyer Guo include multinational companies operating in various industries in China, such as healthcare, manufacturing, fast-moving consumer goods, chemical industry, and high-tech industry.

Li Mengyun

Lawyer Li Mengyun is a partner and practicing lawyer at Dentons (Shanghai) Law Firm, as well as a member of the Social and Legal Committee of the Shanghai Municipal Committee of the China National Democratic Construction Association.

Li obtained her bachelor's degree in Law from Northwest University, with a minor in Finance, and her master's degree in Law from the University of Bristol in the United Kingdom. She is qualified to practice law in China and has passed the Fund Practitioners Qualification Examination and the Securities Practitioners Qualification Examination. Li's main areas of practice include corporate and mergers and acquisitions, capital markets, litigation and arbitration, and she is proficient in foreign-related legal affairs.

In May 2019, Li participated in the first phase of the cross-regional young lawyer training program at Dentons and was sent to the Dentons Hong Kong office for a two-month exchange program. In November 2019, Li was selected by the Shanghai Bar Association to participate in the first phase of the "Navigation Program" for foreign-related lawyers, focusing on the theme of "cross-border mergers and acquisitions," where she learned and exchanged professional skills and practical experience with experts from around the world.

In 2021, Li was selected as a member of the first phase of the "Advanced Training Program for Foreign-related Lawyer Talents" by the Ministry of Justice, and successfully completed the intensive training held at Renmin University of China.

Elsa Wu

Elsa is the Sales Director at Huifu International, a member of the Communist Party of China, and previously served as the Party branch secretary of both ANZ Bank and Citibank.

Elsa has over 15 years of experience in the financial and payment industries, where she was the head of Citibank's large enterprise department for new economy clients in China. Her main area of expertise is serving Chinese brands' overseas expansion, planning and designing the organizational structure for Chinese companies' overseas expansion, and structuring cross-border financing，global asset allocation and payment settlement solutions.

Elsa has served various unicorn and internet giant companies such as Ctrip, Meituan, and Shein, and has accumulated rich practical experience by visiting the overseas branches of Chinese-funded enterprises in countries such as the United States, Singapore, and Malaysia. Elsa holds a master's degree in management jointly awarded by Columbia Business School and Tuck Executive Education, majoring in leadership. She holds a dual bachelor's degree from Beijing University of International Business and Harbin University of Science & Technology, majoring in tourism management and English.                                      

Marwan Saleh

Marwan Mohamed Saleh is the Director of Sales and Business Development, Free Zone at DMCC. He brings over 25 years of work experience in strategic planning, marketing and business development, driving international sales and realising business objectives.

Prior to joining DMCC, Mr. Saleh was the Head of Business Development and International Sales at the Emirates National Oil Company (ENOC).

Mr. Saleh is well-known for his extensive work with Etisalat Afghanistan from 1996 to 2015. He began his career journey as a Government & Corporate Segment Manager. Demonstrating excellence and business acumen, he then climbed the corporate ladder to become Vice President for Etisalat Afghanistan between 2011-2014, before
assuming the role of the CEO at Etisalat Afghanistan.

Mr. Saleh completed his Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration in the United Arab Emirates University (UAEU). He also holds multiple certifications in leadership and organisational leadership from Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and Harvard Business School.

Jianlan Shi

Jianlan Shi joined DMCC in 2023 as Regional Representative for the Far East.

In her role, Jianlan is responsible for building strategic partnerships and promoting the benefits of DMCC and doing business in Dubai to key stakeholders in China (including Hong Kong and Taiwan), South East Asia, Japan and South Korea notably government agencies, business communities and industry.

She brings with her over a decade of professional experience, in particular in Belt and Road Initiative countries as well as with a number of Chinese investment and financing projects.

Jianlan Shi holds a Master's degree in Business Information Technology from the Singapore Management University (MITB) and is also a certified carbon trader.
