WHY ATTEND?
Senior Director of Precious Metals and Stones,
DMCC
Maryam Al Hashemi is the Senior Director of Precious Metals and Stones at DMCC.
Joining the organisation in 2003, Maryam leads the precious metals and stones division at DMCC. As an industry expert, she is responsible for expanding and diversifying DMCC’s precious stones portfolio and advancing Dubai’s status as a world-leading hub for precious metals trade.
Maryam plays an important role in the development of strategic partnerships with various private sector groups - both at home and abroad, and serves as the conduit between DMCC and stakeholders in various UAE Ministries and Federal entities.
Since 2014, Maryam has served on the board of DMCC’s Dubai Diamond Exchange, which today stands as the world’s largest diamond trading hub with over 2,500 members. Under her leadership, Dubai has become the world’s leading diamond trading centre, with rough and polished diamond trade reaching USD 38.3 billion in 2023.
In addition to her responsibilities at DMCC, Maryam is also the Director of the United Arab Emirates Kimberley Process Office - the only entry and exit point for rough diamonds in the country and the only ISO-certified KP Office in the world. A seasoned expert in diamond trade regulation, she has played a pivotal role in managing the UAE’s KP Office and has contributed extensively to the UAE’s Vice Chairmanship of the Kimberley Process in 2015, its Chairmanship in 2016 and 2024, and previously served as Chair of the Committee on Participation and Chairmanship (CPC) in 2017.
We are pleased to announce that Maryam has been appointed as the 2026 Chair of the CPC of the Kimberley Process. This committee plays a critical role in upholding the integrity of the KP by evaluating new participants, reviewing compliance issues, and assessing candidates for the Vice-Chair position. As per KP protocol, the previous year’s KP Chair assumes the role of CPC Chair the following year.
Her extensive experience and leadership in global diamond governance continue to strengthen the Kimberley Process and reinforce Dubai’s position as a premier hub for the diamond trade.
